Opposing Forces (OPFOR)

Position Summary
Valbin Corporation is seeking Opposing Forces (OPFOR) Specialists to support a potential contract at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, NJ.
The OPFOR Specialists support the USAF Expeditionary Operations School (EOS) Fieldcraft Program by portraying realistic opposing forces during classroom, field, and tactical training exercises. OPFOR personnel execute scripted and dynamic combat scenarios that replicate hostile threats, enabling students to develop tactical decision-making, force protection, and combat survival skills in realistic operational environments. OPFOR personnel safely operate military weapons, equipment, and vehicles while maintaining accountability for assigned government property and complying with all USAF EOS safety, weapons handling, and operational procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Portray hostile forces and other designated adversary roles during fieldcraft and expeditionary training exercises in accordance with approved training scenarios.
• Integrate into realistic military operations using military weapons, equipment, vehicles, and tactics to replicate a wide variety of operational environments, including hostile forces, ambushes, snipers, terrorists, police, friendly forces, and host nation civilians.
• Safely operate and maintain military assault rifles, pistols, blank-firing weapons, dye-marking cartridges, and other assigned training equipment in accordance with USAF EOS policies.
• Participate in required weapons handling and qualification training, including rifle, pistol, blank-firing, and dye-marking weapon systems.
• Clean, maintain, inspect, and return all assigned weapons and equipment to USAF EOS armory standards following each training event.
• Execute mounted and dismounted tactical scenarios in urban and field environments while supporting realistic combat simulations.
• Operate effectively in austere environments with limited infrastructure and under varying weather and environmental conditions.
• Comply with all safety procedures, range regulations, and instructions provided by Government instructors and Site Management.
• Immediately report any incident that could affect eligibility to possess firearms or safely perform assigned duties.
• Maintain professionalism while supporting safe, realistic, and mission-focused training events.

Minimum Qualifications

• Prior experience in the operation, maintenance, and safe handling of military assault rifles and small arms.
• Ability to legally possess firearms in accordance with Title 18 U.S.C. §922 and complete DD Form 2760 prior to employment and annually thereafter.
• Successfully pass a background investigation with no disqualifying factors related to handling weapons, ammunition, or pyrotechnics.
• Ability to participate in required weapons handling and operational training for rifles, pistols, blank-firing weapons, and dye-marking cartridges.
• Demonstrated ability to safely maintain and account for assigned weapons and equipment.
• Ability to portray a variety of tactical and combat roles within military training scenarios.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform physically demanding activities, including running over uneven terrain, climbing obstacles, and carrying up to 50 pounds of military equipment.
• Ability to work outdoors in austere environments with limited infrastructure, including exposure to extreme weather, uneven terrain, and extended periods of standing, walking, and movement.
• Ability to participate in force-on-force training exercises utilizing blank-firing weapons, dye-marking cartridges (SIM-FX/UTM), or paintball systems while wearing required personal protective equipment.
• Ability to safely operate in dynamic tactical environments requiring situational awareness, physical endurance, and adherence to established safety procedures.
