What You'll Do The function of the Assistant Principal at Avon Grove Middle School is to create and maintain a positive learning environment for all students. The functions embody those duties and responsibilities that are necessary to reach that goal. The assistant principal should provide support by taking responsibility for those educational duties and responsibilities as directed by the principal. Education, Training, and Experience Master's Degree. A valid Pennsylvania certificate as a PK-12 Principal or a Secondary 7-12 Principal. Minimum five (5) years' experience as a teacher. Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills. Ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships with staff and students. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school. Serves as a principal in the absence of the regular principal. Supervises teachers and grade levels as assigned by the principal. Serves on the school's PBIS core team. Serves on the school's MTSS teams. Serves as the leader of the school's LIEP team. Assists in planning and facilitating professional learning. Assists in oversight of Title I programming and funds. Assists in the development of the master schedule. Assists in the preparation of student placement. Assists in safety inspection and safety drill practice activities. Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance and works with the attendance supervisor for investigative follow-up actions. Assists in maintaining student discipline. Serves with parents, faculty, district office personnel, and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives.
