TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Med/Surg / Tele RN in Iron Mountain, Michigan, 49801!

Job Title: Med Tele Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Required Certifications: BLS Required, ACLS Preferred Must-Have: 1 year experience in Medical/Surgical Telemetry, Acute Care experience, knowledge of TURPS-CBI preferred, Critical Access or Trauma experience preferred Description: The department has 24 inpatient beds and can accommodate up to 10 observation/day surgeries. The nursing staff to patient ratios are 5:1 during the day shift and 6:1 at 11 PM. There are LPNs working until 11 PM, with team nursing in a ratio of 2:7. Common diagnoses include NHP, cellulitis, UTI, COPD, GU, pacemaker, sepsis, nursing home placements, day surgeries (orthopedic, cholecystectomies, appendectomies, TURPS-CBI), and a small pediatric population (3 per year), which is not assigned to travelers unless prior experience or no other options are available. The position requires comfort with IV starts, as there is no IV team on site. The charge nurse takes an assignment, and travelers could be placed as relief charge nurses. There are nurse aides on the unit. Hospitalists or intensivists are available until 6 PM daily, after which telemedicine is utilized. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. Basic telemetry arrhythmia knowledge is needed, as nurses will need to read their own strips. Shifts are 12 hours long, with schedules accommodating self-scheduling when possible. Weekend rotation is required every other week, specifically Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Holiday requirements include working 2 out of 3 holidays. There may be opportunities for on-call or standby shifts. Floating to like units and patients is mandatory. Scrub color is solid professional, with no specific color required. Unit-specific orientation includes a computer education day followed by shadowing and self-scheduling shifts. All clinicians must clock in and out when on-site.
