Trusting in the wisdom echoed by the Constitution of the Sisters of Saint Joseph, the mission asserts, “On the education of women largely depends the future of society. ” The Mount seeks a Spanish teacher to teach introductory level Spanish classes. Candidates should possess a passion for teaching and fluency in Spanish. Successful candidates will have a proven record of teaching Spanish to high school students and an ability to differentiate instruction. The successful candidate will be expected to provide continuity in our curriculum by facilitating success and growth in students' academic and interpersonal skills throughout their curriculum. Primary Responsibilities Develop rigorous, student-centered, creative, and appropriate lesson plans, assignments, and assessments that align with the department curriculum and ensure students are engaged learners with strong foundations in Spanish Ensure that curriculum embraces the richness of both language and culture, using relevant technology and varied modes of learning and communication Maintain careful records of student progress in line with departmental and school policy. Maintain accurate and up-to-date curriculum information/syllabi on all classes taught. Maintain an accurate and updated gradebook through PowerSchool and course material through our LMS, Canvas Maintain confidentiality at all times through communications with students, parents and colleagues. Collaborate with the Dean of Studies, Department Chair, Learning Team, and any other mentors or colleagues to design and implement learning experiences that serve diverse learners Engage families in their student’s education by building relationships and maintaining timely and consistent communication with parents and caregivers. Act as a positive role model, who promotes the aims, values and mission of the school and uphold all rules and policies Qualifications Fluency in Spanish and the ability to teach all levels of Spanish, emerging to advanced, in the target language Bachelor’s degree in Spanish or a related field required; advanced degree preferred; Relevant high school teaching experience and an understanding of adolescent development Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills Familiarity with Google Workspace and learning management systems such as Canvas, and the ability to incorporate technology effectively into instructional practices Employment Type: Full Time Years Experience: 5 - 10 years Bonus/Commission: No
