About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Current nursing license Certifications: BCLS required, NIHSS preferred Must-Have: EKG Testing must be passed prior to start for this specialty. Description: The unit cares for patients undergoing neurosurgical procedures and those with neuro diagnoses. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5-6. Contract staff may work blocked scheduling if required. Travelers should expect to work 12-16 weekend shifts during the contract period. Candidates must be flexible to float within or near the facility as needed. Contract staff may be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and could be required to report to work during catastrophic events or disasters. Night shift hours are 18:45 to 07:15. Staffing levels typically accommodate an average daily census of around 36 patients. Experience with telemetry and peripheral line care is preferred for this role. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services among others. Candidates should be proficient in using the electronic medical record system for documentation. Isolation precautions and PPE procedures are part of the standard care practices for this unit. The unit may require some flexibility with scheduling to ensure adequate patient care.
