Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a high-volume, 65-bed Emergency Department (all private rooms, 2 trauma bays) serving patients ranging from newborns to elderly with minor to critically ill presentations
• Manage and titrate a wide variety of drips including vasopressor, cardiac, and antihypertensive medications
• Recognize and respond to life-threatening cardiac rhythms using Philips monitoring equipment; interpret and act on rhythm changes independently
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including ED physicians (minimum 3 attendings at all times), charge nurses, ED techs, respiratory therapists, and a 24/7 house supervisor
• Draw and collect labs in coordination with ED techs; support care of boarder patients as needed
• Care for stabilized trauma patients transferred from the trauma bay to a pod; travel nurses are not expected to serve as the primary nurse in the trauma bay

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and either ENPC or PALS, and either TNCC or TNS
• Proficiency with vasopressor drip titration and management of critically ill patients
• Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and recognize life-threatening arrhythmias
• Candidates must be able to pass a drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy
• Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility should be aware that a local rate applies

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum 2 years of emergency room nursing experience
• At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment
• SANE RN (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) experience
• Prior experience working in a teaching hospital environment with residents
