Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Ready to make a real difference? As a Nurse Assistant on our Acute Care Surgical Services Unit, you'll be the backbone of our nursing team! Our 24-bed private unit provides specialized care for acutely ill surgical patients. Working under the direction and supervision of our Registered Nurses (RNs), you'll perform essential patient care duties that keep our patients safe, comfortable, and on the path to recovery. Here's what your day-to-day impact looks like:

 

• Be a Patient Care Champion:  Deliver compassionate, hands-on care to acutely ill surgical patients across our 24-bed unit, addressing their safety and comfort needs with skill and empathy
• Team Up with the Nursing Squad:  Collaborate closely with RNs to manage complex patient care across the unit and provide valuable input that helps shape individualized care plans
• Stay Sharp in the Moment:  Respond quickly and confidently to emergent situations in a dynamic acute care environment, following established procedures to ensure the best patient outcomes
• Grow Your Skills:  Actively participate in continuing education opportunities to expand your knowledge and advance your nursing career

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• CNA preferred.
• Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles for similar programs may vary; e.g., Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Patient Assistant Technician (PAT) but perform the same job role.)
• OR May be currently enrolled in a nursing program and have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing course. OR Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan Rn license. OR Medical Assistant program with OR without experience.
• OR At least one (1) year of previous experience in an NA, PCT, PAT, or similar job role.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

• Complete BLS Heart Saver Certification during orientation
