Tech Lead

We are seeking a hands-on Technical Lead to spearhead the modernization of legacy systems, specifically upgrading from Java 6 to Java 8 and migrating to newer IBM WebSphere Application Server instances. This role involves both technical execution and leadership responsibilities, including guiding a team of onshore and offshore developers.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the upgrade of Java-based applications from Java 6 to Java 21, ensuring compatibility, performance, and security improvements.
- Oversee the migration of applications to newer versions of IBM WebSphere Application Server.
- Collaborate with architects, DevOps, and QA teams to define and implement modernization strategies.
- Perform hands-on coding, debugging, and performance tuning.
- Conduct impact analysis and risk assessments for upgrade activities.
- Mentor and manage a team of developers (onshore and offshore), providing technical guidance and support.
- Establish best practices for code quality, testing, and deployment.
- Communicate progress, risks, and issues to stakeholders and leadership.
- Document technical processes and decisions for future reference.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in Java development, with strong expertise in Java 6 and Java 8.
- Proven experience upgrading Java applications and WebSphere environments.
- Solid understanding of enterprise application architecture and integration.
- Experience leading technical teams, including remote/offshore resources.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Experience with WebSphere Liberty or other modern Java EE containers.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
