Travel Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,750–$1,880
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks, November 16, 2026–February 15, 2027
• Healthcare Setting: Acute care hospital
• Schedule: 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour nights, typically 6:30 p.m.–6:30 a.m.; mid-shift coverage may also be scheduled
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend according to the rotating schedule
• Holiday Requirement: Participation in the rotating holiday schedule may be required
• Call Requirement: No call or standby call
• Scheduling: Four-week rotation; requested time off will be considered during scheduling
• Orientation: One to three precepted shifts as needed
• Charting System: Cerner
• Dress Code: Teal scrubs; an acceptable patterned scrub shirt may be worn

Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of respiratory therapy experience required; 3–4 years preferred
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required
• Current West Virginia respiratory therapy authorization; CRT credentials may be accepted when permitted under West Virginia grandfathering requirements
• WV CARES clearance required before the start of the assignment
• Experience caring for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients preferred; neonatal care does not include NICU assignments
• Ability to provide a copy of an unexpired driver’s license during the submission process
• Licensing history or any licensing-related findings must be disclosed during submission
• First-time travel respiratory therapists are welcome to apply

Travel Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care across medical-surgical, progressive care, intensive care, emergency, rehabilitation, PACU, skilled nursing, endoscopy, cardiac catheterization, same-day surgery, and outpatient settings
• Deliver breathing treatments and perform respiratory assessments
• Draw arterial blood gases and perform capillary sticks for I-STAT testing
• Manage and monitor respiratory equipment, including Puritan Bennett 840 ventilators, V60 BiPAP systems, and Airvo 2 high-flow systems
• Assist with intubations; independent intubation is not required
• Perform outpatient arterial blood gases and six-minute walk testing as assigned
• Support care for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients in emergency and pediatric settings, excluding NICU care
• Collaborate with nurses, providers, and the respiratory care team to promote safe, timely, and effective patient care
