Clinical Dietitian Specialist – Outpatient SUNY Upstate Medical University

• Deliver outpatient counseling through assessment, intervention, education and meet documentation/billing standards.

• Manage Medical Nutrition Therapy through Provider-driven referrals, protocols, procedures and prescriptions.

• Participate in clinic/department meetings and contribute to QAPI Initiatives.

• Supporting specialty clinics that may include bariatrics, cancer, diabetes, transplant, general medical, perinatal, gastrointestinal, metabolic/genetic, and pulmonary for patients ranging from pediatric to adult.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required. Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration required. NYS Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist license (or eligible) required. Three or more years of post RD certification experience in clinical dietetics. Specialty certification or advanced specialized membership required within 3 years of hire. *Candidates with Bachelors or Master’s degree, Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration upon hire or within six (6) months of hire, NYS Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist license upon on hire or within one (1) year of hire, and less than 3 years of post RD certification experience will be considered for appointment to an entry-level (SL1) position at commensurate title and salary.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree with preferred area of Nutrition or related field. Two (2) years or more of experience with Inpatient Critical Care or two (2) years or more of experience with Outpatient Counseling with experience in billing. Board certification as a Nutrition Support Clinician or other certifications in Pediatrics or Adult Nutrition: Board Certification as a Specialty in Pediatric Nutrition, Weight Management and Obesity, Oncology Nutrition, Renal Nutrition or board certification in Advanced Diabetes Management.
