Mobile Diesel Mechanic II $5,000 New hire Bonus

Compensation: $26.73 – $40.10 per hour, variable based on location and candidate qualifications. Eligible for additional compensation such as commission and incentive programs. $5,000 new‑hire bonus: 50% after 30 days and 50% after 90 days. Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Execute minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, and differentials. Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges; road‑test vehicles to ensure proper function. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions. Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicles; conduct safety checks and pre‑/post‑trip inspections. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks to perform repairs. Document work according to company standards, upload pictures and parts used to Repair Orders (RO) via the company iOS device and TRAIT application. Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely manner. Independently manage parts inventory and equipment; perform periodic reconciliations. Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone to obtain repair estimate approvals and discuss RO findings. Work with a high degree of independence, manage daily schedule, and maintain productivity within standard repair times. Obtain parts from approved vendors as necessary for repairs. Under the supervision of a Senior Mobile Diesel Technician or higher, perform advanced diagnostics and repairs. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED and 3 years of experience in a related field (or equivalent with additional education or 5 years of experience). Must possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for job duties. Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months of hire. Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical. A valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining may be substituted for a physical; otherwise a physical is required. Must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid driver’s license, and maintain a Driver Qualification File. Must hold a valid state‑of‑residence driver’s license. Required Certifications (or to be obtained within 18 months) ASE T8 (PMI) Preferred: ASE T3 (Drivetrain), ASE T4 (Brakes), ASE T5 (Suspension), ASE T6 (Electrical & Electronic Systems), ASE T7 (HVAC), ASE 608/609. Skills & Abilities Understand implications of new information for problem‑solving and decision‑making. Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; perform moderately heavy labor and repetitive tasks. Effective two‑way communication with individuals and groups. Determine appropriate tools and equipment needed for tasks. Accurately judge distances and identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions.
