Under broad supervision, provides comprehensive medical services by examining patients, diagnosing conditions, and delivering treatment, with a focus on HIV/AIDS care and infectious disease management. The physician will provide diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and ongoing disease management for patients living with HIV/AIDS, while directing nurses, aides, and other staff in patient care and treatment. This position works closely with the HOPE Center Director and Clinical Nurse Manager to identify and eliminate operational bottlenecks, improve clinical efficiencies across the agency, and support high-quality patient outcomes. The role may also include participating in research efforts.

Minimum Qualifications
Medical degree recognized by the Georgia Composite Medical Board (GCMB) and licensure or license-eligible to practice medicine at a state institution or in the state of Georgia as provided by state law and two (2) years of experience at the lower level Physician 2 (HCP161) or position equivalent.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive primary and specialty medical care to patients enrolled in the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of HIV/AIDS and related conditions.
- Conduct physical examinations, review medical histories, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Prescribe and monitor antiretroviral therapy (ART) and other medications in accordance with current HIV treatment guidelines and standards of care.
- Monitor patient progress, treatment adherence, viral suppression, and overall health outcomes through routine follow-up visits and care coordination.
- Provide preventive care services, including screenings, immunizations, risk-reduction counseling, and education related to HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections, and chronic disease management.
- Collaborate with nurses, case managers, pharmacists, behavioral health providers, and community partners to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives designed to improve clinical outcomes, patient retention, and program efficiency within the Ryan White Program.
- Ensure compliance with federal Ryan White Program requirements, Georgia Department of Public Health policies, HIPAA regulations, and applicable clinical standards.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete medical documentation in the electronic health record system.
- Provide clinical consultation and guidance to nursing staff and other healthcare personnel regarding patient care and treatment protocols.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, and program planning activities to support agency goals and improve service delivery.
- Support public health initiatives related to HIV prevention, linkage to care, retention in care, and health education within the community.
- May participate in clinical research activities, training programs, and continuing medical education to remain current with advances in HIV/AIDS treatment and infectious disease management.
