Responsibilities The TikTok USDS Joint Venture Communications team serves as the strategic voice of the Joint Venture, articulating who we are and how we protect and empower millions of Americans on the apps we operate. Our U.S. Product Communications function sits at the intersection of Product, Trust & Safety, Legal, and Public Policy — translating complex features and technical capabilities into clear, compelling stories that resonate with everyday users, creators, and small businesses. We drive mission-critical narratives that build trust, spotlight innovation, and fuel adoption of TikTok features across the United States. About the Role We're looking for a consumer-minded, detail-obsessed U.S. Product Communications Manager to help drive awareness and adoption of key TikTok U.S. features among American audiences. The ideal candidate is a sharp storyteller who can translate technically complex products into accessible, engaging narratives — and who thrives working shoulder-to-shoulder with product managers to shape communications from the ground up. This role bridges products and external audiences — working with journalists and creators to bring the TikTok U.S. product story to life with clarity and credibility. This role requires exceptional writing and editorial judgment, strong media instincts, proactive risk management, and a genuine passion for the creativity and communities that define TikTok in the U.S. Responsibilities Develop and execute integrated U.S. product communications strategies that drive awareness and adoption of TikTok features in the U.S., with a clear consumer-facing mindset. Partner directly with product managers early in the development cycle to help shape features and craft messaging for real American audiences. Lead communications risk management for key product launches — identifying potential reputational concerns early and developing proactive mitigation strategies. Own ongoing evergreen storytelling that spotlights the creative tools, features, and capabilities empowering US creators, small businesses, and communities on the platform. Draft, review, and refine a wide range of materials — including media pitches, press releases, product explainers, blog posts, Q&As, and launch toolkits — with exceptional attention to detail. Build and maintain strong relationships with consumer and tech journalists, serving as a trusted and proactive media relations partner. Manage content review and approval workflows, ensuring message accuracy, consistency, and compliance across all channels and stakeholders. Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Legal, Policy, Marketing, and global communications colleagues to deliver cohesive, well-timed communications. Support executive and internal communications as needed, including briefing documents, talking points, and leadership updates. Travel as needed to support press events, campaigns, and team priorities, with flexibility to adapt to shifting timelines and fast-moving news cycles. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field 5+ years of experience in external or product communications, ideally in consumer tech or a fast-paced media environment Proven track record of high-quality writing across multiple formats and audiences, with strong editing and copy review skills Demonstrated experience working directly with product or engineering teams to communicate complex features in accessible, audience-appropriate ways Established media relations background with consumer or tech press contacts and a strong understanding of the U.S. earned media landscape Experience managing communications risk and navigating sensitive product narratives Experience in both agency and in-house environments Preferred Qualifications Deep familiarity with the U.S. creator economy, small business ecosystem, or consumer technology landscape Experience supporting integrated communications planning across launches, campaigns, and evergreen programs in a fast-paced environment Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the creativity to develop fresh storytelling angles and campaign hooks Demonstrated ability to thrive under ambiguity, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and adapt quickly to change Strong team-player mentality with a collaborative spirit across functions, time zones, and organizational levels Familiarity with data privacy, cybersecurity, trust and safety, or US technology policy — and genuine interest in learning these areas quickly Passion for TikTok's products and a deep appreciation for the communities and creativity they enable About USDS TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC is dedicated to the safety and security of millions of Americans who create, discover, and connect with what they love on the apps we operate. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units. Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location.
