Position at Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc.

 SEWS - Ohio Customer Service Center (Marysville, OH)

BASIC PURPOSE:

Provide direct support and coordination of Safety programs across OCSC, ACSC, CCSC and KCSC locations, ensuring alignment with corporate standards and site-specific needs.Manages the safety programs for the facilities to ensure the safety of all associates.Ensuring compliance with SEWS, SWS and governmental safety rules, laws and regulations. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure compliance of company operations with federal, state, local and company requirements.

Maintain and update safety programs, procedures, and training materials to ensure compliance.

Drive a proactive safety culture by promoting awareness, accountability, and engagement at all levels of the organization.

Conduct and manage safety audits (daily, weekly, monthly, annual), ensuring timely tracking and closure of corrective actions

Provide Safety topics and awareness efforts to organization on a weekly, monthly basis or as needed.

Lead accident and incident investigations, including root cause analysis, development of corrective actions, and follow-up to ensure effective implementation.

Assist in industrial hygiene assessments (noise, chemical exposure, air quality, etc.) and support PPE and ergonomic evaluations.

Support and drive continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, including near miss reporting, corrective actions, and process enhancements.

Complete preventative maintenance and inspection activities related to Safety

Coordinate emergency procedures including review, updates, training, and drills to test effectiveness (emergency evacuations, take cover, spill response, etc.). Maintain company contingency plans.

Lead risk assessments, hazard analysis, and SWS safety activities

Occasional travel is required to support multi-site operations.

Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENT:

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field required.

1–3 years of progressive professional experience in safety, environmental, or related disciplines preferred.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across cross-functional teams.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience with Smartsheet is a plus.

Demonstrate attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills.

Track, analyze, and report safety performance metrics, identifying trends and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Willingness and ability to respond to emergency situations outside of regular working hours as needed.
