Flint Hills Resources has a strong safety presence in the refining and chemical industries and is seeking to strengthen performance by advancing our Industrial Hygiene capability. We are hiring a self-motivated and driven Industrial Hygienist at our Rosemount, MN refinery.

In this role, you will partner with another Industrial Hygienist to support and lead select Industrial Hygiene (IH) programs at the Pine Bend Refinery. As a technical resource, you will work closely with operations, maintenance, and construction teams to identify, evaluate, and control workplace health hazards.

Our Team

The Pine Bend safety capability is a collaborative team of safety professionals, including Safety Specialists, Emergency Response leadership, and compliance team members, all working together to drive risk reduction and operational excellence across the refinery. This team is focused on risk optimization, translating compliance requirements into practical application, and enabling both proactive and reactive learning and improvement systems. Reporting to the Safety Manager, the team partners closely with operations, maintenance, and construction stakeholders to build skills, strengthen processes, and elevate safety performance in areas of highest risk and stewardship opportunity.

What You Will Do

• Conduct industrial hygiene exposure assessments (e.g., air contaminants, noise, chemical exposures) to evaluate workplace health risks
• Develop monitoring strategies, collect samples, interpret results, and maintain accurate IH records to support compliance and follow-up actions
• Utilize applicable exposure limits (e.g., OSHA PELs, ACGIH TLVs) to assess risk and recommend appropriate controls
• Manage chemical safety programs, including SDS review processes and site chemical inventory oversight
• Partner with operations, maintenance, construction, medical, and Human Resources teams to support exposure control and occupational health programs
• Analyze IH data and trends to identify opportunities and drive proactive risk reduction strategies
• Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and risk assessments with a focus on health-related hazards

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Safety, or related technical discipline OR equivalent industrial hygiene experience
• 2 or more years of Industrial Hygiene working in a manufacturing, refining, or industrial environment
• Experience conducting exposure assessments, sampling, or monitoring programs
• Knowledge of Industrial Hygiene regulations, standards, and best practices (e.g., OSHA, ACGIH)

What Will Put You Ahead

• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or progress toward certification
• Experience in a refinery, petrochemical, or chemical manufacturing environment
• Experience supporting occupational health surveillance or medical monitoring programs
• Familiarity with ventilation systems, exposure control technologies, or advanced IH monitoring techniques
• Familiarity with analytical sampling methods
• Familiarity with Cority EHS management software for data entry

For this role, we anticipate paying $100,000 - 130,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
