- # **Department:**SOM KC Internal Medicine - Infectious Disease-----Medicine-Infectious Disease## **Position Title:**Assistant Professor - Internal Medicine (Infectious Disease)## **Job Family Group:**Academic## **Job Description Summary:**The Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Disease, will provide evidence-based care for patients with a wide range of infectious conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The role includes conducting comprehensive evaluations, guiding diagnostic and therapeutic decisions, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support safe, high-quality care. The Assistant Professor will also contribute to the education and training of fellows, residents, medical students, and other learners, and will engage in divisional and departmental scholarly, quality improvement, and academic initiatives.## **Job Description:**## **Job Duties Outlined:*** Perform in-patient attending consultation rounds in rotation with other faculty members. Maintain a weekly ID ambulatory clinic with potential for general infectious diseases population and specialist populations based on individual interest and expertise. Patient care duties may involve training medical students, residents, fellows or other learners.* Provide formal educational instruction by consistently attending and presenting at key Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases conferences including but not limited to Core Curriculum, Case Conference, Journal Club, Patient Safety, Clinical Pathological Conferences and Antimicrobial Stewardship. Provide specialty content updates emphasizing pathophysiology, clinical and diagnostics principles and emerging therapeutic interventions. Support other University teaching activities as identified by the Director.* Participate in formal scholarship activities including but not limited to mentorship of house staff and student academic projects, conduction and dissemination of scientific discoveries, participation in Divisional and Institutional scholarship activities with an emphasis on specialty areas of expertise and to continually foster an environment of learning and discovery.This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. A copy of the Representations and Warranties document can be found .**Comprehensive Benefits Package:**Coverage begins on day one for health, dental, and vision insurance and includes health expense accounts with generous employer contributions if the employee participates in a qualifying health plan. Employer-paid life insurance, long-term disability insurance, and various additional voluntary insurance plans are available. Paid time off, including vacation and sick, begins accruing upon hire, plus ten paid holidays. One paid discretionary day is available after six months of employment, and paid time off for bereavement, jury duty, military service, and parental leave is available after 12 months of employment.
