VHA - Southside Communications and Development VISTA

Virginia Housing Alliance’s (VHA) AmeriCorps VISTA project is a statewide intermediary project with 18 Host Sites that work to expand affordable housing opportunities and end homelessness throughout Virginia. This posting is for a Host Site opening at Southside Community Development & Housing Corporation (SCDHC) in Richmond, VA. SCDHC builds viable, thriving and sustainable communities through affordable housing development and services that help families build wealth. They have built more than 500 affordable single‑family homes and assisted over 11,000 families in achieving homeownership through their HUD‑approved counseling program. Member Duties Design and expand affordable housing programs, identify resources related to affordable housing program funds, and strengthen tracking tools to improve efficiency. Collaborate with the Director of Real Estate Development and Program Managers on funding applications that support affordable housing programs and expand SCDHC’s single‑ and multi‑family development capacity. Expand resident services by enhancing community outreach and data collection strategies at SCDHC’s properties to assess program effectiveness. Support SCDHC’s communications, social media, and community outreach efforts, helping the organization tell its story. Assist with grant writing, research, social media, and community engagement efforts to broaden the reach of SCDHC’s homeownership, eviction diversion, and affordable housing programs. Help improve resident services at rental properties by evaluating data management and collection methods and designing services to improve housing and financial security for Central Virginia residents.
