Job Summary
Located halfway between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks and home to the University of Montana, Missoula is an academic center situated in an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise. Depending on the season, you can hike, ski, fish, float rivers, ride mountain bikes, or just sit back and marvel at the surrounding scenery. Partnership Health Center (PHC), a Federally Qualified Health Center with 14 sites, provides integrated primary care services to over 18,000 individuals and families, including medical, dental, behavioral health, and an on‑site pharmacy. As a Medical Clinic primary care provider, you will deliver primary medical care and supervise clinic staff at PHC.
Responsibilities
- Provide primary medical care, including assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients.
- Maintain medical records of patient visits using the PHC format.
- Ensure appropriate referrals and/or hospitalization with hospitalists and participate in the after‑hours call system for PHC patients.
- Consult professional staff regarding unresolved clinical problems and ensure sound medical direction in the absence of the Chief Medical Officer.
- Provide clinical assistance to PHC’s ancillary health services as requested.
- Provide input on evaluations of medical personnel and participate in the delivery of these evaluations.
- Assist the Chief Medical Officer and Clinic Director in all aspects of clinic management: staff training and supervision, provider schedules, incident reporting, complaints, oversight of specialty clinics, student rotations, policy development, workflow and quality assurance.
- Participate in quality improvement processes as assigned.
- Act as the Chief Medical Officer as required or assigned.
- Perform related work as required or directed.
- Assign, train and supervise medical providers and Advanced Practice Providers; provide general supervision of clinic staff as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Considerable knowledge of primary care medicine, preventive medicine, community health, social services resources, HIPAA, corporate compliance, and clinical assessment principles.
- Skill in diagnosis and treatment, diagnostic test interpretation, medication therapies, basic lab procedures, charting, and use of instruments and equipment.
- Skill in using a personal computer and related software (word processing, email, electronic medical records).
- Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team, provide culturally sensitive care, develop effective working relationships, communicate in English, train and instruct employees, analyze information and evaluate results.
Minimum Qualifications
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited medical or osteopathic school; board‑certified, board‑eligible and residency‑trained.
- Family practice residency training required.
- Completion of an accredited residency program, board certification in area of specialty, and at least 2 years of experience as a physician.
Special Requirements
- Current license to practice medicine in Montana with full prescriptive authority and no history of licensure suspension or disciplinary action.
- Eligible for malpractice/liability coverage.
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity to certain infectious diseases and a TB test.
- Voluntary vaccination status available on hire; reasonable accommodation provided when necessary.
Physical and Environmental Demands
The role is performed in clinic and office settings, requiring bending and lifting medium range (20–40 lbs). It involves risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens and communicable diseases and may require evening, weekend, on‑call coverage, Saturday clinic shifts, and travel to affiliated satellite locations. The position is 30 hours per week in clinic and 10 hours per week administrative duties and is not eligible for full‑time remote work.
