Job Description

Job Summary:

The Echo/Ultrasound/Sonographer conducts diagnostic ultrasound examinations, including echocardiography, ensuring accurate imaging and patient safety. They provide essential information to support medical diagnosis and treatment planning.

Responsibilities:

• Perform general and specialized sonographic procedures, including echocardiograms, adhering to established protocols.
• Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring their comfort.
• Operate ultrasound equipment and select appropriate transducers and settings for each examination.
• Correlate clinical history with ultrasound findings to produce precise images.
• Evaluate image quality, identify artifacts, and adjust techniques as needed for optimal results.
• Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, findings, and equipment performance.

Qualifications:

• Possess ARDMS registration in appropriate specialty areas.
• Hold an associate degree or graduate of an accredited sonography program.
• Maintain active licensure and certification as required by the State of Maine.
• demonstrate proficiency in grayscale discrimination and ultrasound physics.
• Exhibit strong communication skills and ability to work calmly under pressure.
• BLS certification is required.
