Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a difference in the lives of students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired working full-time under a contract in a school-based setting. This position offers the opportunity to utilize your skills to support students near West Chester, PA, serving a collaborative and supportive academic environment.
In this role, you’ll work with a varied caseload (more details to be provided), delivering direct services, adapting curriculum materials, and collaborating with other educators and families to ensure the success of visually impaired students. Your expertise will help foster independence and academic achievement across a range of learning needs.
What you’ll bring:
- State certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility to obtain
- Demonstrated experience teaching students with visual impairments
- Proficiency in adapting materials and delivering instruction in large print, braille, and other alternative formats
- Strong communication and consultative skills with educators, support staff, and families
- Ability to implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and track student progress
Main responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments on your assigned caseload
- Conduct assessments, develop instructional plans, and regularly update educational goals
- Adapt instructional materials to ensure accessibility
- Coordinate closely with classroom teachers and related service providers
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in alignment with district and legal standards
