Registered Respiratory Therapist

A 380-bed acute care hospital in Fort Pierce is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to join its respiratory care team. This full-service medical center provides advanced healthcare services, including a Heart Institute with open-heart surgery, labor and delivery, pediatrics, orthopedics, oncology, nuclear medicine, adult and pediatric emergency care, and both inpatient and outpatient surgical services.

This position plays a vital role in delivering respiratory care to patients across a variety of clinical settings. The Respiratory Therapist performs thorough patient assessments, evaluates respiratory status, and carries out diagnostic testing to determine appropriate treatment plans and monitor patient progress.

Daily responsibilities include administering oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and chest physiotherapy, as well as assisting with artificial airway placement when needed. The role also involves initiating, managing, and monitoring both invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation while ensuring the safe transport of ventilator-dependent patients throughout the hospital.

The Respiratory Therapist closely monitors each patient's response to therapy, communicates any changes in condition to the healthcare team, and provides prompt intervention when necessary. This position also responds to emergency situations, helping maintain airway stability and effective ventilation during resuscitation efforts.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree required
• Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) state licensure required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 30 days of employment
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required within 30 days of employment
