Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator

Description The Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the wastewater treatment facility. S/he will operate, monitor, maintain, and trouble‑shoot the wastewater treatment facility and its processes. This role ensures that all processes are maintained to meet regulatory standards and protect public health and the environment. This role ensures that all processes are maintained to meet regulatory standards and protect public health and the environment. Schedule Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm. Every other weekend, Saturday 7a-Noon Pay Based on experience, typical range $25-30 per hour. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Perform all aspects of sampling, monitoring, and testing required to maintain compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations governing the wastewater treatment process, storm water and sludge management. Perform the installation, maintenance, and repair of the physical plant and pump stations and all components. Assist in the performance of regular and unscheduled maintenance and repairs on all plant equipment and machinery. Perform daily checks of the wastewater treatment process and periodic checks of pump stations. Adjust chemical feed systems to maintain proper treatment levels. Maintain logs, reports, and regulatory documentation accurately and in a timely manner. Perform all work in conformance to Occupational Safety and Health Act regulations. Follow all safety and environmental procedures to ensure a safe workplace. Maintain open communications regarding the treatment process and pump stations operation and malfunction as well as make recommendations for repairs and improvements to the system. Assist with facility housekeeping and grounds maintenance as required. Conduct the necessary weekend checks of the treatment plant on a rotating basis. Backfill to other positions as needed.
