Research Assistant, Biological Sample Processing (Part Time) E11 Bio is on a mission to advance connectomics towards whole brain scale for humans and other mammals. We are a collaborative and interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers engaged in a neuroscience moonshot project to develop a radical technology platform for scalable mammalian brain mapping. E11 Bio is a non-profit Convergent Research focused research organization located in Alameda, California, pursuing blue-skies neuroscience research yet operating like a nimble, tight-knit start-up. E11 is seeking an enthusiastic Research Assistant to support the team in generating and processing biological samples for our moonshot mission of developing novel technologies for scalable whole-brain connectomics. Responsibilities: Processing of brain tissue and hydrogel samples (including sample sectioning) Evaluation of brain sample quality by fluorescence microscopy Experimental validation of staining reagents Documentation of biological samples and reagents via Notion databases Close collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to facilitate experiments based on your work Required qualifications: Coursework or experience in biological and/or medical sciences (molecular biology, biotechnology, bioengineering, etc.), training as a biological technician or equivalent working experience Experience with basic molecular biology laboratory techniques (e.g. biological sample preparation, immunohistochemistry, etc.) Strong organizational and communication skills and ability to maintain accurate records Willingness and ability to quickly pick up new processes and adapt to changing needs Preferred qualifications: Experience with or interest in fluorescence microscopy Experience with or interest in tissue sectioning Who will love this job: You are excited about performing biological sample preparation, including sectioning, clearing and staining protocols, and working with fluorescent microscopes You have an intrinsic motivation to broadly accelerate science by enabling high-impact experiments in a tight-knit team. #J-18808-Ljbffr Second Renaissance
