Shift: Monday – Thursday; 3p-1a (training on days Monday-Thursday 5am-3pm)

Pay: $22.50-30.50

Job Description

The Quality Inspector I performs visual, mechanical, and dimensional inspections on strip or loose-piece terminals and connectors to ensure all products meet blueprint, specification, and quality requirements. This role uses microscopes, gauges, comparators, semi-automated inspection systems, and other precision measurement tools to verify product conformance and support high-quality production in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed visual and microscopic inspections of reeled and loose-piece contacts to identify defects such as deformations, chip marks, tool marks, burrs, fractures, and plating issues including flaking, discoloration, pits, and uneven coverage.
• Evaluate dimple appearance, straightness, bow, symmetry, and other visual characteristics using standardized criteria to determine product acceptability or rejectability.
• Conduct mechanical and dimensional inspections on reeled and loose-piece terminals using prescribed instruments including comparators, micrometers, functional gauges (force gauges, insertion and extraction gauges), go/no-go gauges, special or custom gauges, and fracture testing devices.
• Verify critical dimensional features such as barrel width, height, length, true position, symmetry, dimple size, and other blueprint characteristics to ensure compliance with engineering specifications.
• Perform first-piece inspections for samples submitted by production personnel and provide timely feedback to support setup validation and ongoing process control.
• Use OGP (Optical Gaging Products) or similar automated measurement systems to perform semi-automated product inspections according to established programs and procedures.
• Interpret automated measurement results, compare them to specifications, and validate product conformance or identify nonconformances.
• Maintain accurate and detailed daily inspection records, logs, and traceability documentation to support quality and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare nonconformance reports, inspection forms, and other quality documentation completely, accurately, and within required timeframes.
• Communicate quality concerns, trends, and recurring issues to production and quality personnel to support corrective actions and continuous improvement.
• Follow all established inspection procedures, quality standards, and safety guidelines while working in the production and inspection areas.
• Move between various areas of the building as needed to support inspections and collaborate with production teams.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• At least 2 years of previous mechanical inspection experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience using inspection instruments such as calipers, micrometers, comparators, functional gauges, go/no-go gauges, and other precision measurement tools.
• Ability to perform visual and microscopic inspection and identify defects including tool marks, burrs, fractures, deformation, and plating issues.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications to verify critical dimensions and product characteristics.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when measuring, recording data, and determining product conformance.
• Ability to interpret results from automated and semi-automated inspection systems such as OGP or similar optical gaging equipment.
• Basic understanding of quality assurance principles in a production environment.
• Ability to maintain organized and complete inspection records, logs, and quality documentation.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of York, PA.

The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $30.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
