Registered Nurse - Perinatal Care

Schedule

This position requires a night shift, from 7 PM to 7 AM.

Job Description

The competent Nurse in a perinatal care setting practices independently, demonstrating awareness of all relevant aspects of each patient situation. The nurse provides routine and complex care, setting long-range goals and plans, and continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Furthermore, the nurse makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers to manage clinical situations effectively.

Responsibilities

• Meets expectations of the applicable One CHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Consistent with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, provides nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Adds to care by addressing increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administers medications and treatments per protocols, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
• Documents patient histories, symptoms, medications, and care administered accurately.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, families, and caregivers.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred.
• Current RN License in the state of TX or compact.
• Current certifications required from one of the following: AWHONN Intermediate or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM).
• Current certifications in BLS, NRP, and ACLS (AHA only).
• All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire and be precepted by a designated trained staff member.
• Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is mandatory.
