Job Summary

Oasis XRE is seeking a full-time or part-time Instructional Assistant to support students and teachers at Virtual Horizons Charter School. This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys working with students, is comfortable with technology, and is excited about innovative approaches to education.

The Instructional Assistant will work directly with students and teachers in both virtual and in-person settings. The position will provide academic support, assist with instructional activities, help students navigate virtual reality and educational technology, and support teachers with classroom and instructional needs.

Essential functions include:

• Providing individual and small-group academic support to students.
• Assisting teachers with instruction, student engagement, projects, and learning activities.
• Helping students successfully use VR headsets, educational applications, and other learning technology.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work directly with students individually and in small groups to reinforce concepts taught by teachers.
• Provide academic intervention, tutoring, and additional support to students as directed by teachers and school leadership.
• Support teachers in preparing instructional materials, activities, assignments, and student projects.
• Assist students and teachers with VR headsets, educational applications, and other instructional technology.
• Monitor student participation, progress, and engagement and communicate concerns or observations to teachers.
• Encourage students and help create a positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
• Assist with in-person student activities, meetings, orientations, demonstrations, and school events as needed.
• Help prepare, organize, maintain, and distribute instructional and technology materials.
• Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding students and school information.
• Perform other instructional and student-support responsibilities as assigned.

• Flexibility and adaptability in a growing, innovative school environment.
• Ability to maintain student confidentiality and exercise appropriate professional judgment.

Previous VR experience is not required. Training will be provided.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Priority may be given to candidates with education, coursework, or experience in education, special education, or  STEM.
• Previous experience working with school-age students is preferred.
• Previous experience as a paraprofessional, instructional assistant, tutor, teacher, substitute teacher, youth mentor, or similar position is helpful but not required.
• Experience with educational technology or virtual learning is a plus.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position includes both remote work and regular in-person work in Lehi, Utah, generally two to three days per week.

The employee must be able to perform typical computer-based work for extended periods and regularly communicate with students and staff through video, audio, and virtual reality platforms. The position may require standing, walking, bending, reaching, and moving instructional materials or technology equipment.

The employee may occasionally be required to lift, carry, set up, or transport computers, VR headsets, educational equipment, and supplies.
