Job Description
The Chemist performs laboratory analysis of samples using wet chemistry techniques and a range of analytical instruments in a controlled manufacturing laboratory environment. This role ensures that testing is completed in accordance with cGMP, GLP, SOP, USP, and FDA guidelines, supporting the quality control of IV solutions, raw materials, and finished products.
Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory analysis of samples according to established specifications and procedures using wet chemistry techniques and various laboratory apparatus and instruments, including HPLC, GC, UV-VIS, FT-IR, TOC, and pH meters.
  • Conduct full product testing in the laboratory for IV solution formulation at tank level, including testing and releasing bulk IV solutions before they are filled into bags.
  • Perform stability testing of IV solutions, as well as testing of finished products and raw materials using extractions, pH measurements, UV-VIS analysis, titrations, HPLC extractions, and fluorescent testing.
  • Carry out routine qualification, calibration, and preventive maintenance of laboratory instruments to ensure accurate and reliable performance.
  • Prepare analytical standards, reagents, and solutions according to established procedures and specifications to support laboratory testing.
  • Execute protocols for method verification and validation in compliance with applicable regulatory and internal quality standards.
  • Scan, organize, and compile supporting data for reports and documents, ensuring accurate documentation and traceability of test results.
  • Perform chemistry testing and other QC Laboratory Associate duties in support of Process Surface Material Qualification.
  • Support alternate raw material supplier qualifications and participate in other projects within the QC chemistry laboratory.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the laboratory to maintain a safe, organized, and compliant work environment and assist with other tasks and projects as assigned.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related field, with Chemistry strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 0-1 year of experience in an academic or scientific laboratory environment.
  • Hands-on experience with common academic laboratory techniques, including pH measurement, titrations, FT-IR, and UV-VIS.
  • Ability to perform wet chemistry techniques and operate analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC, UV-VIS, FT-IR, TOC, and pH meters.
  • Excellent technical writing skills, including clear documentation, editing, formatting, and organization of laboratory reports and data.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite for data analysis, report preparation, and documentation.
  • Understanding and application of cGMP, GLP, SOP, USP, and FDA guidelines in a laboratory setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures and specifications accurately.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry is preferred, with openness to related scientific disciplines.
  • Experience with HPLC operation and extractions in a laboratory environment.
  • Familiarity with fluorescent testing techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively in a quality control chemistry laboratory supporting process qualification and supplier qualification projects.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing multiple tests, data sets, and documentation requirements.
  • Comfort working with chemicals in a controlled laboratory setting within a manufacturing facility.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment and support laboratory colleagues across different shifts and areas.

Work Environment
The role is based in a controlled laboratory within a manufacturing facility that produces IV solutions. The Chemist works primarily in a QC chemistry lab performing full product testing at the formulation tank level, as well as stability, raw material, and finished product testing. The environment involves regular handling of chemicals and operation of analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC, UV-VIS, FT-IR, TOC, and pH meters. Typical attire includes a lab coat, lab safety shoes, and safety glasses, with occasional work in an in-process testing area as needed. The department consists of approximately 25 people working within one main lab, with smaller in-process lab teams of one to two people per shift. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., supporting ongoing ramp-up of production and quality testing for IV solutions.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
