Houston Hurricane & Security Products is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Shop Technician to join our production team. This position is responsible for the cutting, fabrication, assembly, and preparation of aluminum exterior products , including hurricane protection systems, exterior patio products, motorized screens, shutters, and related components.

The ideal candidate takes pride in quality workmanship, works accurately with measurements and specifications, follows established safety procedures, and excels in a team environment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Measure, cut, drill, fabricate, and assemble aluminum components according to production specifications and work orders.
• Make precise and accurate cuts using saws and other fabrication equipment.
• Assemble hurricane shutters, motorized screens, exterior patio products, and related aluminum systems.
• Read and accurately use tape measures, drawings, cut sheets, and production specifications.
• Inspect completed components for proper dimensions, fit, finish, and overall quality.
• Identify fabrication or material issues before products leave the shop.
• Safely operate saws, drills, hand tools, power tools, and other shop equipment.
• Prepare completed products and materials for installation crews and jobsite delivery.
• Organize, label, stage, and protect finished products to prevent damage.
• Assist with receiving, unloading, organizing, and maintaining aluminum, hardware, and other inventory.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and production area.
• Follow company procedures and OSHA safety requirements at all times.
• Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Work closely with shop personnel, project managers, and installation teams to keep projects on schedule.
• Communicate material shortages, damaged components, production problems, or potential delays to management.
• Help maintain tools and equipment and report equipment needing repair or maintenance.
• Assist in other production, warehouse, and shop duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in fabrication, manufacturing, construction, aluminum products, metalworking, millwork, or a related trade is preferred.
• Strong ability to read a tape measure and work accurately with dimensions and fractions.
• Ability to perform repetitive precision measuring, cutting, drilling, and assembly .
• Experience operating saws, drills, power tools, and fabrication equipment is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work efficiently while maintaining accuracy and quality.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain a consistent work schedule.
• Strong communication skills and a positive team-oriented attitude.
• Knowledge of workplace and OSHA safety practices.
• Willingness to learn new products, equipment, and fabrication techniques.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to regularly lift and move 50+ pounds .
• Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods.
• Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, carry, and handle materials throughout the workday.
• Comfortable working in a warehouse/shop environment and around fabrication equipment.
