The Regional Sector Leader (RSL) for Biosolids is an integral role within our regional leadership team, directing our work with technical rigor, an innovative spirit, and a vision for solving the world’s greatest challenges for biosolids and resource recovery. The Regional Sector Leader also supports business development and growth by working with practice leaders to engage directly with key clients in their geography and beyond, creating technical differentiators for our pursuits, and establishing a strong industry brand and presence.To reinforce our presence, the Regional Sector Leader is expected to participate in professional conferences, publish technical papers, conduct external webinars and/or podcasts, expand, and grow Stantec’s capacity to win and deliver biosolids work in our Pacific region, which includes the entirety of California and Hawaii.Reporting directly to the North America Biosolids Sector Leader, you will play a pivotal role in translating our broader North American strategy into actionable initiatives for the Pacific geography, closely collaborating to align projects and key client needs with our resources and technical capabilities.Your Key ResponsibilitiesCoordinating with the Regional Growth Leader, you will be responsible for the following within your region:Providing leadership to our internal biosolids practitionersReinforcing our external brand as a leader in biosolids design and delivery through active participation in industry organizations, thought leadership, and communication with strategic clients.Identifying and supporting the win of strategic pursuits in collaboration with local Business Center Practice Leaders, Account Managers, and business developersActing as a Liaison between local / regional teams and the North American Sector Leader and practice community to leverage both their and the sector's technical skills locallyYou will be expected to:Regularly engage with clients.Actively participate in relevant industry associationsLeverage and actively develop your understanding of industry drivers, market trends, and legislative requirements in the Pacific region to support and grow our biosolids design and delivery portfolio.Identify how technology changes affect our clients, work across business lines, and project delivery.Help teams deliver complex projects with a focus on quality, risk management, and long‑term value.Develop and maintain strong relationships with technology and delivery partners.Foster a biosolids practice across and beyond the region to share knowledge, best practices, and practical solutions.Contribute to our North America Biosolids Sector to implement our strategy across the continent and bring services and specialists from the broader Stantec organization to our clients.Help recruit, retain, and inspire a team of biosolids practitioners, at multiple levels, with exceptional technical skills that bridge both the solids and liquid streams.Engage in delivery of biosolids projects as a subject matter expert, leveraging your expertise, industry best practices, and new or innovative technologies.Work closely with sector leaders, regional growth teams, project developers, and the Stantec Institute for Applied Science, Technology, and Policy to leverage internal resources and match them up with projects and pursuits where they can bring value, inclusive of working across business lines.Consistently demonstrate a commitment to the Health and Safety culture within Stantec.Your Capabilities and CredentialsStrong technical skills and knowledge of existing and developing regulations within the biosolids practice.Experienced and visible industry leader in delivering complex projects with a high degree of technical proficiency.Ability to lead and inspire multi-disciplinary teams with a strong commitment to meeting goals and upholding Stantec’s values and policies.Demonstrated understanding of the Pacific region market and industry trends with established working relationships with pertinent organizations.Think strategically about the technologies, regulations, range of market, business, and/or economic issues likely to impact the sector. Uses this information to develop strategies for sector development and growth.Champions innovative ideas and initiatives and creates an environment that supports innovation. Leads the implementation of emerging technologies with a focus on potential challenges and appropriate courses of action.Proven experience in client communications and technical proposal writing.Excellent technical and business acumen.Committed to Health, Safety and Environment.Located in the Pacific region with ability to travel throughout North America.Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Process, Chemical, Mechanical, Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
