Position at New South Construction Supply, a Colony division


The Lead Rebar Fabricator is responsible for leading the team and overseeing the rebar operations for the facility. This role combines technical expertise, leadership, and a strong commitment to safety, quality, and facility standards.

Schedule

• 3pm-3am, Monday through Thursday

Key Responsibilities

• Team Leadership & Safety
• Lead and mentor fabrication team members to ensure safe and efficient production.
• Promote and enforce all workplace safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular safety briefings and ensure proper use of PPE.
• Identify and address potential hazards to maintain a zero-incident work environment.
• Equipment Operation & Fabrication
• Set up, operate, and monitor fabrication machinery to cut and bend rebar according to production schedules and customer specifications.
• Interpret bar lists, rebar tag prints, and production orders accurately.
• Verify measurements and ensure quality control standards are consistently met.
• Coordinate workflow to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
• Equipment Safety & Maintenance
• Perform routine daily pre-operation inspections of all fabrication equipment.
• Conduct basic preventative maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Report mechanical issues promptly and coordinate repairs when necessary.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records.
• Facility Standards & Professionalism
• Uphold a high standard of cleanliness and organization throughout the shop.
• Ensure workstations and equipment areas are orderly and hazard-free.
• Maintain professional conduct and promote a culture of accountability and teamwork.
• Represent the company with professionalism when interacting with coworkers, supervisors, and visitors.

What You'll Need for Success:

• High school degree or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 1-3 years' experience working with rebar and operating fabrication equipment, or similar automated machinery.
• Strong understanding of shop drawings and production processes.
• Knowledge of OSHA and workplace safety standards.
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic equipment maintenance.
• Leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to safely lift and manage 50+ lbs.
• Basic computer skills.
