Job Description

Title: Surgical Technician

Schedule: Varied 12-hour day/evening shifts On-call required

Assignment Details:

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Guaranteed Hours: 36

Requirements

- High school diploma required

- One year experience in operating room as a Surgical Technician or equivalent training required

- Certification or eligibility for certification preferred

- American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification required

Roles & Responsibilities

- Create and maintain a sterile field and inspect sterile items for contamination before opening.

- Anticipate the need for equipment and supplies before surgical procedures and ensure all equipment is functioning before use.

- Assist with the scrub duties for all surgical procedures, understanding the specific needs and techniques of individual surgeons.

- Collaborate with the RN on the completion of operative charge and recording of hardware used during procedures.

- Collect specimens and cultures, verifying source and correct tissue identification with the surgeon.
