\nValley Manor Care Center is part of Volunteers of America National Services which serves as the Housing and Healthcare subsidiary of the Volunteers of America parent organization.
\nHourly Pay: $39.00 - $46.50 per hour based on previous work experience PLUS earn $2.25 per hour evening/night shift differential.
\nSchedule: Full-time and part-time openings, 10pm - 6am

The primary purpose of the Registered Nurse (RN) is to utilize the nursing process in planning and providing direct care to residents as assigned. The nurse will plan, direct and carry out shift routines in assigned nursing unit and observe, direct and evaluate the activities of personnel as the person “in charge” according to the Nurse Practice Act. Will assume “Building Charge” responsibilities as directed by the DON or Designee.
\nQUALIFICATIONS:
\n- \n
- Current licensure in the state of Colorado as a Registered Nurse . \n
- Current CPR Certification. \n
- Maintenance of required CEU’s. \n
- Experience in long-term care preferred. \n
- Good problem solver with abilities to make independent judgments utilizing initiative, discretion and the nursing process as needed. \n
- Demonstrates leadership ability. \n
- Effective communicator with staff, families and outside agencies. \n
- Ability to prioritize duties. \n
- Customer service oriented with knowledge of successful customer service techniques. \n
- Clinical competence to utilize the nursing process to perform physical and cognitive assessments of residents. \n
- Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as timekeeping, in-servicing and documentation. \n
- Must be a team player. \n
- Understanding of current Antibiotic Stewardship, Infection Prevention and Infection Control and OSHA guidelines. \n
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Provides Leadership and Direction on Assigned Unit \n
- \n
- Role models positive communication skills with NA/R’s, C.N.A.’s, STNAs, TMA’s (if applicable), interdisciplinary team, supervisory and management team, customers, residents and families. \n
- Listen to shift report and keep open lines of communication with supervisor, co-workers and on-coming shift. \n
- Make rounds to residents to observe their physical and psychosocial status. \n
- Assign personnel appropriately to meet resident needs. \n
- Ensure that unit personnel on your shift are carrying out their assignments. \n
- Attend nurses and team meetings as scheduled and/or assigned. \n
- Initiate disciplinary action when the performance of personnel warrants such action. \n
- Report occupational exposures to needlesticks, blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals in accordance with facility policy and procedures governing accidents and incidents. \n
- Brings concerns/improvement suggestions to facility leadership and QAA/QAPI committee. \n
\n - Resident Care Functions \n
- \n
- Maintains competence in all required skills within assigned area(s). \n
- Treats and ensures that residents are treated with respect and dignity. \n
- Immediately reports any suspected abuse or neglect per company policy \n
- Perform nursing techniques for the comfort and well being of the resident. \n
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments per MD orders. \n
- Is drug knowledgeable and reports resident response, side effects, responds to drug considerations and reports problems or potential problems to the physicians. \n
- Maintains all required documentation in an accurate and timely manner according to policies and procedures of the facility. \n
- Follows all shift routines, policy and procedures regarding monitoring of vital signs, weights, administration of medications and treatments. \n
- Make physician/provider calls to report resident change in condition. \n
- Keep Resident Representative and families updated on resident conditions. \n
- Comply with acute emergency protocols and tasks involved in the event of a 911 call. \n
- Follows all Advance Directives: DNR/DNI/CPR/Comfort Care protocols and orders. \n
\n - Charting, Documentation and Assessment Functions \n
- \n
- Contribute toward completing and updating resident’s care plans. \n
- Evaluate and reports the performances of all personnel working under your supervision and direction. \n
- Perform routine charting duties as required and in accordance with established charting and documentation policies and procedures. \n
- Accurately transcribes physician’s/provider’s orders as per facility protocol and forwards necessary information to other departments. \n
- Document and report all incidents, accidents that occur involving residents, visitors, and staff. \n
- Chart nurses’ notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided as well as the resident response. Follows VOA Policy and Procedures. \n
- Provides ongoing resident assessments as necessary and as assigned and documents these assessments per facility policy. Utilizes E-Interact COC & Care Paths for change in condition. \n
\n - Personnel Functions \n
- \n
- Attend nurses meetings as scheduled. \n
- Maintain a clean, safe and efficient work environment. \n
- Maintains continuing education requirements. \n
- Initiate disciplinary action when the performance of personnel warrants such action. \n
- Participate in employee performance evaluations, determining staffing requirements, and making recommendations to the Supervisor concerning employee counseling etc. \n
- Develop and maintain a good working relationship with inter-departmental personnel. \n
- Attends required in-services and completes assigned online modules. \n
\n - Committee Functions \n
- \n
- Serve on, participate in and attend various committees and meetings of the facility to enhance interdisciplinary process. \n
\n - Other duties as assigned. \n
