Lab Supervisor - Cytogenetics Blood Team

Job Description Labcorp is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to join our team at our lab in Durham, NC. Work Schedule: Monday‑Friday 1:00pm‑9:30pm. Job Responsibilities Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Cytogenetics department. Ensure laboratory tests are accurately performed and results are reported in a timely manner. Directly supervise, train, and mentor laboratory personnel of the department. Monitor daily workflow in the lab and schedule adequate assay coverage. Ensure all shifts in the department are properly staffed. Research and resolve any production errors while escalating when necessary. Engage in continuous process and service level improvements. Ensure all equipment is being properly maintained through Quality Control. Prepare and maintain Quality Assurance records and documents. Evaluate new process improvements and make appropriate recommendations. Meet regularly with direct reports to provide coaching and feedback. Perform bench work as needed and maintain proficiency/competency in technical operations. Ensure all work is in accordance with state and Federal regulations. Administer and manage policies and procedures. Process and maintain payroll and personnel files. Perform administrative duties as needed. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology. 5 years or more of clinical laboratory testing experience. ASCP or AMT certification. Preferred Qualifications 6 months or more of supervising or leading a team. Additional Job Standards Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures. Experience working in a high‑volume laboratory environment. Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations. Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Proficient with computers and familiarity with laboratory information systems. High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills. Comfort with making decisions in a changing environment. Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position. Ability to pass a standardized color‑blindness test. Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.
