Quality Control Lab Technician – QC Lab Tech
Old Fort, OH

Compensation: [confirm rate before posting]
Schedule: Rotating weekend schedule (3-week rotation) — includes overnight shifts (11:30 PM–7:30 AM) and weekend coverage (Fri overnight through Sun evening)

About the Role
As a QC Lab Technician, you'll ensure strict adherence to company and government quality standards by inspecting, testing, observing, and reporting on the production and packaging of sodium bicarbonate, animal nutrition, and consumer products. This includes testing incoming raw materials, in-process and finished goods, reviewing production records, and providing analytical support to Engineering for process optimization.

What You'll Do

• Complete assigned routine analyses and required replicate testing/reporting independently
• Provide analytical and technical support for personnel safety and equipment maintenance
• Inspect bagging and packaging lines for weight specs, date codes, and proper equipment operation
• Inspect all phases of plant production to ensure overall product quality
• Sample and evaluate incoming shipments for specification compliance
• Evaluate non-conforming results and initiate re-sampling, retesting, and/or hold procedures as needed
• Audit completed work for omissions, deletions, and errors
• Record data using established formats and notation conventions
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, supplies, and work area
• Release tested materials to production/shipping per QC policies (written and verbal)
• Compile test result summaries for departmental reporting
• Participate in and support the Quality Improvement Process
• Apply working knowledge of the plant food safety program and basic HACCP principles
• Assist with preventative maintenance on lab equipment
• Lift 50 lbs consistently; move samples (up to 40 lb boxes) and 50 lb bags of sodium bicarb; navigate stairs and the facility floor throughout shifts

What You'll Need

• Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Fluency in MS Office Suite
• One of the following:
• • High school diploma/GED + 5 years of related experience, OR
  • 2 years of post-secondary education in a related discipline + 3 years of related experience, OR
  • 4 years of post-secondary education in a related discipline + 1 year of related experience

Nice to Have

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related science field
• Manufacturing lab environment experience
• SAP experience
• Hands-on knowledge of GC, ICP, and HPLC equipment
