Overview

The SAP Production Planning (PP) Solution Architect serves as the senior solution leader responsible for designing and governing SAP S/4HANA Production Planning solutions that support manufacturing, operational excellence, and long-term business objectives. This role partners with business stakeholders and technical teams to deliver scalable, integrated production planning capabilities across the enterprise.

 

Summary

The ideal candidate is a highly experienced SAP PP professional with deep expertise in production planning, manufacturing processes, and SAP S/4HANA architecture. This individual will lead solution design, facilitate blueprint workshops, establish architectural standards, and guide implementation teams while serving as a trusted advisor to clients and stakeholders. This position requires strong consulting, leadership, and communication skills, along with the ability to travel extensively to support client engagements and go-live activities. Candidate must be US Citizen and be able to travel 75% of the time. 

 

Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end architecture, design, and governance of SAP Production Planning (PP) solutions within SAP S/4HANA environments.
Define and optimize manufacturing processes including demand management, MRP, capacity planning, production scheduling, shop floor control, and manufacturing execution.
Design and govern production master data including material masters, BOMs, routings, work centers, production versions, and planning strategies.
Develop integrated solutions across SAP PP and related modules including MM, SD, QM, EWM, and FI/CO.
Support integration strategies and connectivity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and other manufacturing technologies.
Facilitate blueprint workshops, requirements-gathering sessions, architecture reviews, and solution design discussions.
Evaluate manufacturing operations and recommend process improvements, technology roadmaps, and optimization strategies.
Establish security, authorization, and role-based access frameworks for production planning and manufacturing users.
Provide architectural oversight throughout the full project lifecycle to ensure alignment with SAP best practices and business goals.
Partner with technical teams on integrations, reporting solutions, data migration efforts, enhancements, and custom development.
Mentor consultants and project team members while promoting implementation standards and best practices.
Support business development activities including solution estimates, technical proposals, and statements of work.
Travel to client locations up to 75% to support implementations, workshops, go-lives, and hyper-care activities.
Participate in quality assurance and information security initiatives in accordance with organizational standards and policies.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field with 8-10 years of relevant experience; or 10-13 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
8+ years of hands-on SAP Production Planning (PP) implementation experience.
Experience leading at least two full lifecycle SAP S/4HANA implementations in a Solution Architect, Lead Architect, or Enterprise Design capacity.
Deep expertise in SAP PP configuration and architecture, including:
Material Requirements Planning (MRP)
Demand Management
Production Orders
Bills of Material (BOMs)
Routings
Work Centers
Capacity Planning
Production Scheduling
Experience designing SAP manufacturing solutions for complex production environments.
Strong understanding of SAP PP integration with MM, SD, QM, EWM, FI/CO, and MES platforms.
Proven ability to lead client workshops, facilitate solution design sessions, and communicate effectively with business and technical stakeholders.
Ability to travel up to 75% as required.
U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

 

Preferred Qualifications
SAP Certified Application Associate - SAP S/4HANA Production Planning or related SAP certification.
Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD), federal government, aerospace, defense, logistics, manufacturing, or other highly regulated industries.
Knowledge of PP/DS, advanced planning, finite scheduling, and digital manufacturing solutions.
Experience supporting discrete, engineer-to-order (ETO), make-to-stock (MTS), and make-to-order (MTO) manufacturing environments.
Previous consulting or systems integration experience involving solution architecture, delivery governance, statement of work development, and client advisory services.
