Proud to be an equal opportunity employer.Job Description and Key ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Director, Neuroscience Communications & Public Affairs is accountable for shaping and leading the global communications and public affairs strategy for Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine’s Neuroscience portfolio.Reporting to the Vice President, Neuroscience Communications & Public Affairs, this role serves as the most senior communications counselor to Neuroscience leadership and is responsible for ensuring clear, consistent, and credible positioning across science, access, policy, and value—supporting both near‑term commercial priorities and long‑term portfolio growth. Operating as a core member of the Neuroscience Communications leadership team, and a business partner to commercial and R&D partners, this role drives strategic alignment across global, regional, and market teams and partners closely with Commercial, R&D and Enterprise functions to influence the external environment and strengthen trust with key stakeholders.Key responsibilities include:Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive global communications strategy for the Neuroscience portfolio, aligned with Innovative Medicine business priorities and enterprise standards.Serve as the primary strategic communications advisor to Neuroscience franchise leadership, providing counsel on external positioning, risk assessment, and stakeholder engagement.Shape the global narrative for Neuroscience across disease areas, products, pipeline assets, and scientific platforms, ensuring clarity, consistency, and differentiation.Oversee communications strategy for priority launches, major data readouts, lifecycle milestones, and key growth brands, in close partnership with Launch Communications and Performance Accelerator teams.Partner with Public Affairs to support market‑shaping, policy, and advocacy strategies that enable access and improve the operating environment for Neuroscience.Guide integrated communications planning across media, issues management, scientific congresses, campaigns, and executive visibility.Align closely with regional and market communications leaders to ensure global strategy is effectively adapted and executed locally, particularly in Top 10 markets.Anticipate, assess, and manage issues and reputational risks affecting the Neuroscience portfolio, working in close coordination with Enterprise and regional teams.Build and sustain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including media, scientific experts, advocacy organizations, and policy influencers.Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing Neuroscience communications team, fostering collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement.Contribute as a senior leader within the broader Innovative Medicine Communications & Public Affairs organization, helping to elevate standards, capabilities, and impact across therapeutic areas.Qualifications – ExternalEducation:Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Policy, Life Sciences, or a related field preferredExperience and Skills:Required:Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in communications, public affairs, or related external engagement rolesSignificant experience leading communications for complex, global pharmaceutical portfolios or therapeutic areasDemonstrated ability to operate as a trusted advisor to senior business and scientific leadersDeep understanding of the biopharmaceutical environment, including commercialization, access, policy, and reputational dynamicsProven experience in issues and crisis management in a highly regulated environmentStrong strategic thinking, executive presence, and influencing skills in matrixed organizationsExperience leading and developing high‑performing global teamsAbility to integrate enterprise, regional, and market perspectives into cohesive strategiesPreferred:Experience in Neuroscience or adjacent specialty disease areasExperience working closely with Public Affairs, Market Access, and Government Affairs partnersGlobal experience across multiple regions and marketsOther:Up to 25–30% travel, domestic and internationalJohnson & Johnson is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
