Project Accountant

Set up and maintain projects in the accounting system, including budgets and cost codes Track and reconcile job costs, commitments, and change orders Ensure accurate cost allocation across labor, materials, subcontractors, and equipment Prepare and process monthly project billings, including progress billings, cost‑plus, and T&M Assist with revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP and company policy Track retainage, lien waivers, and contract documentation Reporting & Analysis Prepare job cost reports, budget‑to‑actual analyses, and variance explanations Support preparation of Work‑in‑Progress (WIP) schedules Assist Project Managers with financial reporting and forecasting Month‑End & Close Activities Support monthly close activities related to project accounting Reconcile project‑related balance sheet accounts Assist with audit requests and documentation Collaboration & Process Improvement Work closely with Project Managers to resolve billing and cost issues Coordinate with AP, AR, and Payroll to ensure timely and accurate cost capture Identify opportunities to improve project accounting processes and internal controls Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Finance or related field may be considered) 2–5 years of accounting experience in a project‑based or construction environment Working knowledge of job cost accounting and project billing Proficiency in accounting systems and Excel Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines Effective communication and organizational skills Required Skills Experience with construction accounting software (Sage, Viewpoint, CMiC, Procore, Acumatica, or similar) Familiarity with WIP reporting and percentage‑of‑completion accounting Experience partnering directly with Project Managers and operations teams Preferred Skills Direct exposure to project financials from setup through close‑out Collaboration with operations and leadership teams Growth potential into Senior Project Accountant or Accounting Manager #J-18808-Ljbffr LHH
