Registered Nurse Colorectal Surgery

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the outpatient clinic provides ambulatory nursing care, supporting physicians and patients in a clinical setting focused on colorectal surgery. Responsibilities include patient rooming, vital signs, telephone triage, medication refills, scheduling, patient education, and assisting with minor procedures. The RN collaborates closely with physicians and medical assistants to ensure comprehensive patient care and effective clinic operations. This role requires at least one year of ambulatory nursing experience and a BLS certification. Responsibilities:

• Room patients and record vital signs
• Perform telephone triage and respond to patient MyChart messages
• Manage medication refills and FMLA requests
• Provide authorization support for imaging and schedule colonoscopies and office visits
• Assist with minor office procedures and exams
• Perform high level disinfection and maintain clean, stocked exam rooms
• Provide patient education and surgery teaching
• Make post-operative patient calls
• Guide and support Medical Assistant staff
• Cover RN triage line and answer direct patient calls
• Travel to satellite clinic sites as needed with provided transportation

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license
• Minimum of 1 year ambulatory nursing or primary care experience
• BLS certification
• Strong clinical assessment and patient education skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to perform high level disinfection and assist with minor procedures

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in colorectal surgery or specialty outpatient clinics
• Familiarity with telephone triage and outpatient care coordination
• Experience working with electronic medical records and MyChart systems

Special Considerations:

• No weekend, holiday, or on-call responsibilities
• Position does not float mid-shift
• Transportation provided for travel between clinic sites
• Opportunity for temporary-to-hire status

Scheduling:

• Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
• No weekends, holidays, or on-call shifts
