Role Summary As an Elementary Humanities Teacher, you will inspire curiosity, foster critical thinking, and help students develop a deep appreciation for literature, history, and other humanities subjects. Through differentiated instruction and a collaborative approach, you'll help build a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Responsibilities Instructional Planning & Delivery: Plan and deliver daily effective differentiated instruction. Demonstrate knowledge of resources, student needs, curriculum (Wit & Wisdom and Fundations), content, and pedagogy. Set clear instructional outcomes and design assessments to track student progress. Engage students in learning through creative questioning and quality discussions. Communicate directions, expectations, procedures, and content with students. Establish a culture of learning by effectively managing procedures and behavior. Maintain up-to-date records of student behavior and progress. Student Engagement & Family Collaboration: Foster an ongoing relationship centered on hopes and dreams to engage parents and families in their children's success. Use data to inform and tailor instruction to meet diverse student needs. Professional Growth and Development: Participate in the Center City PCS learning community via PLCs, campus/district professional development, and weekly campus-based grade-level planning sessions. Reflect on instructional practices by incorporating feedback and adjusting teaching strategies accordingly. Collaboration and Communication: Attend occasional school events outside of regular hours. Engage families by building positive relationships to support the student’s academic and personal goals. Compliance and Professional Expectations: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, follow school-wide procedures for attire, behavior, and punctuality (teacher hours are 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM), and attend and participate in occasional school events outside of regular school hours. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in an applicable subject area, as appropriate. Passing Praxis scores. Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience (preferred). Strong ability to use data-driven instruction with demonstrated evidence of student growth. Familiarity with Common Core Shifts in ELA and Wit & Wisdom Curriculum (preferred). Demonstrates ability to use data to assess student learning, with evidence of growth. References that reflect a high standing with a past employer. Able to lift 10 pounds and stand for long hours.
