Works under the supervision of the Radiology Manager. Performs independently using judgment and initiative to meet department demand. Performs screening and diagnostic mammographic examinations according to established radiologic standards and procedures following federal regulations.
Duties and responsibilities include: performing mammographic examinations as required by MQSA/FDA guidelines and by departmental protocols; performing weekly and monthly QC monitoring, charting and documenting of values on appropriate QC forms for Mammography; responsible for maintaining and cleaning of Mammographic equipment in department as needed per department procedures; providing basic nursing skills, quality patient care and giving appropriate patient instructions as necessary for various procedures; performing and maintaining all aspects of Quality Assurance needed to acquire and maintain ACR Accreditation; assuring that all documentation and images are correct in Epic, PACS and teleradiology portal; preparing radiographic and mammographic images for Radiologist interpretation in a timely manner; maintaining room supplies and equipment in a condition to promote efficiency, health, comfort and safety for patients and staff; maintaining ethical conduct in accordance with ARRT and The Portland Clinic (TPC) standards; maintaining continuing education requirements as required by ACR/MQSA/FDA; maintaining professional and cordial relationships with patients, clerical staff, co-workers, supervisors, radiologist and physicians; reporting incidents and accidents, unsafe conditions, malfunctioning of equipment and room supply needs immediately to supervisor or designated person; participating as an active team member in a patient-centered medical home; performing other duties as designated or as needed; employees will not be discourteous or disrespectful to a customer or any member of the public while in the course and scope of company business; working in a cooperative manner with management/supervision, coworkers, customers and vendors; abiding by company policies; maintaining regular, in person, work attendance and punctuality, as scheduled.
Equipment used includes Mammographic equipment PACS, Epic and Teleradiology Portal software Basic Office Equipment such as computer, telephone, etc.
Requirements include Completion of Associate or Bachelor of Science Degree in Radiologic Technology ARRT Certification in Mammography and Radiography Oregon licensure in Mammography Meet and maintain continuing education and experience MQSA requirements in Mammography. Knowledge of MQSA/FDA QA/QC requirements CPR Certification.
Preferences include Knowledge of x-ray equipment, radiation physics, radiation safety, medical terminology and departmental protocols. Knowledge of MQSA/FDA mammography federal regulations and requirements Basic understanding of Infection Control Values team success Compassionate, patient and tactful Shows an interest in taking action to increase his/her knowledge and development as an employee Contributes to an environment where people feel valued Strong patient assessment ability Proficiency in charting and documentation Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients and staff Keyboarding skills Proficiency in Microsoft Windows Organizational skills and ability to prioritize workflow Competency in language, grammar, and spelling Ability to interact and establish a good rapport with people over the telephone and in person, often in stressful situations Capability of effectively working on more than one task without a reduction in the quality of work and service performed Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations and to work under pressure Ability to accept responsibility and use initiative to proceed with necessary tasks without direct supervision.
