Job Description

Location: St. John Hospital - Detroit

Department: Kidney Transplant

Schedule: 40 hrs/week, EXEMPT, 7:30am-4:00pm, no weekends, no holidays

What You Will Do

Kidney transplant patient assessment and counseling
Assesses patients for nutritional status to determine if they qualify for organ transplant.
Provides interventions/treatments throughout patients transplant journey including diet assessment, weight loss advising, diabetes education and food hygiene practices.
All potential transplant recipients are required by CMS to be seen by a transplant dietitian in the pre-transplant, hospital, and post-transplant phases of the transplant process.
Collaborate with physicians, nursing, and ancillary services.
Monitor patient tolerance and effectiveness of nutritional regimens, recommending adjustments as needed.
Provide nutrition information to the community through public speaking, news releases, and publications.
Research and resolve nutrition care-related complaints and problems.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Previous renal, bariatric, or diabetes experience preferred
Bachelors in Dietetics
2+ years' experience preferred

CERTIFICATION/LICENCES REQUIRED

Dietitian credentialed from the Commission on Dietetic Registration obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required .
Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association
BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association
