DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston. This role provides blood-collection services for inpatient units and the outpatient draw clinic in a fast-paced, Veteran-focused environment.ResponsibilitiesPerform venipuncture and capillary collections for 40–80 patients daily, including difficult draws.Collect blood cultures, urine specimens, and support glucose tolerance testing.Verify patients using two identifiers and follow all VA/Joint Commission standards.Label, transport, and process specimens; complete LIS accessioning.Communicate with clinical staff regarding orders, add-ons, and results.Follow all safety, infection control, and HIPAA/privacy requirements.Maintain professionalism, customer service, and accurate documentation.Requirements2+ years phlebotomy experience (within the last 3 years).Phlebotomy Certification and BLS required.Ability to stand/walk for long periods and lift 25+ lbs.Strong communication skills and comfort working with diverse patient populations.Must complete VA background check, fingerprinting, and mandatory training.PreferredHospital or high-volume clinical experience.Prior VA or federal healthcare experience.LOGZONE is an equal opportunity employer.
