Safety Coordinator

The Industrial Safety Coordinator (Steel Fabrication) is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all health and safety programs to ensure a safe and compliant workplace. This role supports incident-free operations by enforcing regulatory standards, company policies, and industry best practices within a steel fabrication environment. Position: Direct Hire $70-79K Monday- Friday 7 AM to 3:45 PM Key Responsibilities: Develop, update, and enforce workplace safety policies and procedures Maintain and update the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements Safety Program Development & Implementation Develop, update, and enforce workplace safety policies and procedures Maintain and update the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements Safety Inspections & Audits Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards Maintain detailed records of inspections and corrective actions Follow up with foremen and employees to ensure timely hazard correction Maintain and manage safety audits using iAuditor Investigate incidents, near-misses, and accidents to determine root causes Prepare reports and recommend corrective and preventive measures Accompany injured employees to medical facilities when needed Conduct substance testing in accordance with company policy Training & Safety Awareness Lead and conduct safety training sessions for employees Provide operator training for forklifts and overhead cranes Ensure employees understand PPE requirements and emergency procedures Hazard Control & Risk Management Perform pre-task analyses and risk assessments Identify workplace risks and implement preventive measures Monitor use of PPE and enforce safety signage compliance Develop and maintain emergency response plans and evacuation procedures Coordinate fire drills, spill drills, and other emergency simulations Compliance Monitoring & Documentation Ensure all certifications, permits, and records are current Monitor regulatory updates and adjust safety programs accordingly Maintain logs of inspections, incidents, and safety meetings Provide regular safety performance reports to management Safety Communication & Leadership Act as liaison between management, employees, and regulatory agencies Provide daily updates to management on safety performance and improvements Promote a proactive, safety-first culture across the organization Lead by example in all safety-related practices Analyze safety data to identify trends and recurring issues Recommend and implement improvements to safety systems and processes Core Competencies: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to train and influence others Team-oriented with strong collaboration, conflict resolution, and organizational skills Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities Working knowledge of steel fabrication equipment, rigging, and industrial operations In-depth knowledge of Cal-OSHA safety standards and regulations Proficient with computer systems and safety documentation tools Results-driven with a strong focus on safety performance Required Certifications & Training: OSHA 30 Certification Current First Aid/CPR Certification Current Aerial Lift Certification Respiratory/Fit Test Training Harassment Prevention Training Train-the-Trainer Certifications in: Aerial Lift Respiratory Fit Testing Preferred Qualifications: OSHA 510 Certification This role operates in a steel fabrication and industrial setting with exposure to heavy machinery, tools, and active production areas.
