Registered Nurse - Outpatient Clinic Hematology Oncology

Job Summary Schedule : 5 x 8-hour shifts (07:30-16:00); variable weekends; no set/blocked scheduling; self-scheduling requests accommodated. Patient Care : Provide care for patients with hematologic malignancies (multiple myeloma, chronic leukemia, lymphoma), including pre/post BMT/CART transplant. Core Clinical Skills : Perform peripheral and line blood draws, place peripheral IVs, access ports/PICC lines, conduct EKGs, administer injections/immunizations, and perform line dressings. Special Procedures : Administer chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics; manage oncologic emergencies (tumor lysis syndrome, cytokine release syndrome), insulin and heparin drips. Certifications/Skills : BLS required; skilled in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line management, starting IVs. Unit Focus : Adhere to infection prevention protocols and patient fall precautions; staffing ratios target 1:4 (may be 1:5). Orientation : First week-Mon-Fri day shift orientation; second week-36 hours of on-unit precepted orientation. Charting : Use of EPIC electronic medical record system.
