Tax Experienced Manager, Transfer Pricing

Job Summary: The Tax Experienced Manager, Transfer Pricing is responsible for advising clients on transfer pricing implications related to their business objectives, recommending alternate courses of action, and identifying methods of complying with transfer pricing regulations. In this role, the Tax Experienced Manager will perform marketing, networking, and business development within their area of expertise and specialization, while recognizing potential changes in tax policy and applying new policies to tax compliance. Job Duties Research: Completes financial analysis related to intercompany transactions to include an evaluation of industry and client financial data to assist in documenting appropriate intercompany pricing policies. Identifies when research is appropriate and frames issues to be researched. Tax Compliance: Determines scope of transfer pricing projects, establishes budgets and timelines, and drafts and presents proposals to prospective clients. Administers completion of economic analysis and composes the final report. Ensures clients are compliant with transfer pricing requirements and proposes year‑end reviews when applicable. Assists in determining appropriate transfer pricing methods under IRS regulations and OECD guidelines. Ensures tax engagement letters are adopted prior to work commencement. Conducts detailed review of facts and data, identifying basic, complex and advanced issues throughout the engagement. Manages engagement to achieve metrics. Completes project planning and scheduling. Tax Controversy: Represents clients before tax authorities on contested issues, with guidance from senior Transfer Pricing professionals. Transfer Pricing Consulting and Documentation Services: Develops, recommends, and implements appropriate transfer pricing methods for specific transactions. Prepares planning and documentation reports. Applies relevant regulations when analyzing client data, identifying issues. Analyzes applicability of new regulations and reports findings to senior leadership. Utilizes additional expert resources as needed. Identifies opportunities for additional consulting specialties and cross‑selling, presenting to senior management. Analyzes client situations and tax goals to provide advice that maximizes benefits. Tax Provision and FIN 48: Employs general tax accounting principles relating to transfer pricing. Applies transfer pricing in the context of tax provisions and FIN 48. Reviews tax provisions related to transfer pricing. Partners with Assurance professionals to plan tax accrual reviews. Practice, Staff and Business Development: Identifies opportunities and prepares and delivers presentations to pitch service capabilities. Prepares proposals, statements of work and engagement letters. Researches a variety of tax topics related to transfer pricing. Summarizes and reports on recent developments. Drafts tax alerts to communicate recent developments to external audiences. Creates slides for presentations to internal and external audiences. Prepares training materials and presents to internal audiences. Works on special projects to develop practice efficiencies or improve processes. Tax Related Software: Uses tax research databases and other related software; knowledge of statistical packages preferred. Other duties as required Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises day‑to‑day workload of Transfer Pricing Managers, Senior Associates and Associates, reviewing work product. Ensures all team members are trained on relevant tax software. Evaluates performance and assists in developing goals for professional development. Delivers periodic performance feedback and completes evaluations for the team. Acts as career advisor to relevant professionals. Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or another relevant field, required. Advanced degree, preferred. Experience: Six (6) or more years of prior experience, required. Experience within a transfer pricing practice, required. Prior experience supervising professionals on projects or engagements, required. Experience reviewing tax provisions from a transfer pricing perspective, preferred. Experience applying knowledge of transfer pricing interplay with other tax areas, preferred. Software: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Prior exposure to tax research databases and/or other software beneficial; knowledge of statistical analysis software, preferred. Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Superior analytical and research skills. Solid organizational skills and ability to meet project deadlines with detail orientation. Ability to multi‑task independently or within a group. Proven ability to work in a deadline‑driven environment and handle multiple projects. Capability to manage a team of tax professionals and delegate work assignments. Capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and client personnel. Ability to encourage a team environment and contribute to professional development. Executive presence and ability to act as primary contact on engagements. Ability to interact with professionals at all levels. Ability to research taxation topics and compose written analysis effectively. Ability to network and develop business within Transfer Pricing. Excellent research skills and project management. Individual salaries are determined after consideration of numerous factors, including but not limited to qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. The national range is $94,500 – $189,000. The NYC/Long Island/Westchester range is $94,500 – $189,000. The Washington DC range is $94,500 – $189,000. #J-18808-Ljbffr BDO USA, LLP
