It’s about helping students understand the “why,” experience those wonderful lightbulb moments, and build the confidence to tackle problems they once thought were too hard.

The right person for our team loves working with kids, enjoys finding different ways to explain a concept, and knows how to bring encouragement, patience, creativity, and even a little fun into every lesson.

What You’ll Do

As a Sylvan Math Teacher, you’ll work with students in a supportive small-group environment, helping them strengthen foundational skills, close learning gaps, and develop confidence as mathematicians.

You will:

• Teach math to students at a variety of grade levels and abilities
• Help students understand concepts rather than simply memorize procedures
• Find creative ways to explain math when the first explanation doesn’t click
• Make learning engaging, positive, and rewarding
• Celebrate progress — from mastering multiplication facts to finally understanding algebra
• Encourage students who may have decided they are “just not good at math”
• Create a warm environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes
• Work alongside a team of educators who genuinely care about their students and one another

Math Skills

We are especially interested in educators who are comfortable teaching mathematics across multiple levels. Experience with middle school math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, and/or higher-level math is especially valuable.

Teaching experience and/or a strong educational background in mathematics, education, engineering, science, or a related field is preferred.
