Accounting Specialist – Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Pay $45,000.00–$50,000.00 per year Job Description MIFAB Inc. is an energetic company located on Chicago’s south side in the commercial drainage industry. JOB SUMMARY

The Accounting Specialist will support both the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. This position will work closely with our current Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Specialists and will be cross-trained in both areas. The ideal candidate will have prior office management, bookkeeping, or accounting support experience and be comfortable working with customers, vendors, salespeople, and other departments. The long-term goal of this position is to develop an employee who can independently handle and provide coverage for both functions. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (including but not limited to): Accounts Payable Review vendor invoices for accuracy and proper approval Enter vendor invoices and credit memos into the accounting system Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documentation Communicate with vendors regarding invoice and payment questions Research and resolve invoice discrepancies Assist with preparing vendor payments Maintain accurate vendor records and supporting documentation Reconcile vendor statements and follow up on missing invoices Assist with employee expense reports and credit card documentation Accounts Receivable Apply customer receipts accurately to outstanding invoices Communicate with customers regarding billing, payments, and account balances Contact customers regarding past-due invoices Work internally with salespeople and account coordinators to resolve payment disputes Monitor customer accounts for missed payments and signs of financial problems Maintain customer credit files and account information Prepare reports of past-due accounts and collection activity Assist with account reconciliations, credits, and adjustments General Accounting and Administrative Responsibilities Provide backup support for the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Specialists Maintain organized and accurate accounting records Assist the Accounting Manager with monthly reports, account reconciliations, and month-end procedures Support the Accounting Department during employee absences and high-volume periods Assist the Leadership Team with delegated projects and tasks Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and department efficiency Maintain confidentiality when working with customer, vendor, employee, and company information KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: At least three years of experience in office management, bookkeeping, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, or a related accounting support position Experience performing both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions is preferred Accounting degree is not required Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities while dealing with continuous interruptions Strong attention to detail and follow-through Ability to communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and members of the organization Solid written communication skills Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, email, and accounting software Ability and willingness to learn new systems and processes Ability to work independently and as part of a team WORKING CONDITIONS: Full-time, in-person position Office environment Eight-hour shift Monday through Friday Benefits 401(k) matching Dental insurance Health insurance Paid sick time Paid time off Ability to Commute/Relocate: Chicago, IL 60643: Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work.
