Quality Technician

Quality TechnicianThe Quality Technician supports manufacturing and production operations by ensuring that products, components, and assemblies consistently meet established quality standards and customer specifications. This role performs detailed inspections throughout the production process, identifies and documents non-conformances, and collaborates closely with operations and supply chain personnel to implement corrective actions and process improvements. The Quality Technician maintains accurate and complete quality records in accordance with the Quality Management System (QMS), including inspection reports, production logs, non-conformance documentation, and rework summaries. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, a mechanical background, and a commitment to continuous improvement, product quality, and operational excellence. Candidates have the opportunity to grow in a contract-to-hire role while working closely with supplier quality engineers and benefiting from paid holidays and vacation time.ResponsibilitiesInspect incoming components and generator set assemblies, following strict documentation requirements within the Quality Management System (QMS).Conduct thorough inspections of incoming components and document supplier or transportation non-conformances, ensuring issues are properly reported.Review and inspect completed products and production records to verify that product standards are met and quality-control programs are enforced for both newly manufactured and repaired components.Maintain visual awareness of the production area to ensure effective execution of all tasks within the QMS and alignment with safety goals.Apply and maintain document control procedures to approve, review, and revise inspection documents in accordance with QMS requirements.Assist in continual improvement of the Quality and HSE Management System by ensuring supplier non-conformance reports (NCRs) are documented accurately and completely.Monitor adherence to ISO standards and assembly work instructions established for assembly production and inspection activities.Support timely, high-quality production by monitoring production practices and collaborating with leadership when quality or timing issues arise.Ensure all tools used in production and throughout the facility are properly calibrated and maintained, including inspection of lift fixtures and removal of non-working tools and meters from service for repair or replacement.Uphold product standards and enforce quality-control programs to maintain consistent quality across all production and assembly processes.Work in conjunction with leadership to ensure all work areas are safe and that safe working practices are consistently followed.Report on the performance of the Quality and HSE Management System and support improvement initiatives.Assist with environmental regulatory compliance tasks and reporting to ensure inspections and required reports are completed and submitted on time.Provide and participate in training, as needed, to perform quality inspection tasks correctly and support continuous improvement in inspection practices.Collaborate with supplier quality engineers and the supply chain team to address non-conformances and support supplier-related quality initiatives.Perform visual, dimensional, and mechanical inspections using appropriate measuring tools and techniques to verify product conformity.Support production and assembly teams by providing quality-related feedback and guidance to help resolve issues and prevent recurrence.Essential SkillsAt least 3 years of experience as a Quality Technician in a manufacturing or production environment.Hands-on experience with measuring tools, including micrometers and other dimensional inspection instruments.Proficiency in visual inspection and dimensional inspection techniques for components and assemblies.Strong experience in quality control and quality assurance within a production or assembly setting.Experience performing quality checks throughout the production process to ensure compliance with specifications.Mechanical experience with the ability to understand components, assemblies, and production processes.Ability to assist with non-conformances and collaborate effectively with the supply chain team and supplier quality engineers.Working knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and their application within a Quality Management System.Ability to follow and enforce assembly work instructions and quality-control programs.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in inspection, documentation, and record-keeping.Effective communication skills for working with operations, supply chain, and quality leadership.Capability to maintain and use calibrated tools and inspection equipment safely and correctly.Understanding of QMS and HSE management systems and their role in quality and safety performance.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Katy, TX.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $32.00 - $36.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
