This position will provide instruction to students in grades 4–6 within a structured, relationship-based classroom environment. The Special Education Teacher works closely with Instructional Assistants, clinicians, related service providers, and other members of a multidisciplinary team to provide individualized support that promotes academic, social, and emotional growth. About the Position The Special Education Teacher will plan and deliver engaging, differentiated instruction designed to meet the individual academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students. We are looking for an educator who understands the importance of building strong relationships with students while creating a safe, predictable, and supportive learning environment. The successful candidate will maintain high expectations while helping students develop confidence, independence, and the skills necessary for continued growth. Experience with trauma-informed educational practices, Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS), and Safety‑Care is highly valued. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver differentiated instruction across curriculum areas for students in grades 4–6. Develop and implement instruction aligned with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Create a structured, supportive, and engaging classroom environment. Utilize trauma-informed practices and positive behavioral support strategies. Collect and use academic and behavioral data to monitor student progress and inform instruction. Collaborate closely with Instructional Assistants, clinicians, related service providers, and other members of the educational team. Participate in IEP development, team meetings, and student planning. Maintain consistent and meaningful communication with families. Support students in developing academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and independent learning skills. Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field. Massachusetts DESE licensure in Moderate Disabilities , or appropriate licensure for the assignment. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Commitment to individualized, student-centered instruction. Preferred: Experience teaching students with social-emotional and behavioral needs. Experience working in a therapeutic or special education setting. Knowledge of trauma-informed educational practices. Experience with Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) and/or Safety‑Care.
