Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (6:45 PM – 6:45 AM) | Expected 36–48 hours/week
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 35-bed Telemetry unit serving cardiac and telemetry patients including CHF, post-CABG, dysrhythmias, EP cases, and medical telemetry patients
- Independently read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips; unit is part of a monitor pod covering Tele, Tele-Observation, and Tele-Neuro Stroke
- Administer set-rate drips (e.g., Cardizem, Dobutamine, Milrinone, Amiodarone, Dopamine) following established step-by-step protocols; titration is not required
- Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–5; float within the three monitor pods and occasionally to MedSurg or between campus locations as needed
- Precept new staff as required
- Participate in self-scheduling within a block-scheduling framework, including every-other-weekend and holiday coverage requirements
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Must pass the Basic Dysrhythmia exam (83% passing score) prior to contract signing; up to three attempts permitted with remediation and a study guide available
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience; 2+ years preferred for candidates who demonstrate comfort and confidence in the telemetry setting
- Epic EMR experience required (position supports an Epic conversion)
- Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by a CommonSpirit-affiliated facility within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms may be considered
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Neurology and/or cardiac nursing experience
- Familiarity with home-regimen CPAP and BiPAP management
- Experience working in a Joint Commission-certified heart attack and stroke center with intervention capabilities
